Eau de parfum vs perfume oil: which format is for you
The short answer: an eau de parfum is sprayed, diffuses off the skin and announces itself to a room; a perfume oil is rolled on, sits close and keeps the scent for the people who lean in. Neither is better and neither is stronger, they are doing different jobs. Every fragrance scent we make comes in both, so the choice is about how you want to wear it, not which one you can get.
What actually differs
The difference is the carrier. An eau de parfum dissolves fragrance in alcohol, and when you spray it the alcohol flashes off in seconds, lifting scent into the air around you. That lift is projection: the reason a spray reads across a table. A perfume oil dissolves the same fragrance in a carrier oil that does not evaporate, so the scent stays where you rolled it and warms up slowly with your skin.
That one fact explains almost everything people notice about the two formats. The spray makes a bigger first impression and settles as it dries down. The oil starts quiet and stays quiet, and because nothing is rushing it into the air, it can hold on longer. Concentration labels like eau de parfum describe the proportion of fragrance in the bottle, not how good it is, and an oil is not automatically stronger for being an oil.
When the eau de parfum is the right call
Reach for the eau de parfum when you want the scent to take up space: walking into dinner, a night out, any moment where being noticed is the point. A spray also covers more skin and fabric in one gesture, which suits people who like a fragrance to feel like a finished outfit rather than a detail.
The trade-off is honesty about volume. A spray speaks at a level you do not fully control, and a bold one in a small meeting room is a decision everyone shares. If most of your wearing happens at a desk, that matters more than how it performs on a dance floor.
When the perfume oil is the right call
Reach for the perfume oil when you want the scent for yourself and the people close to you. Oils sit near the skin, so they suit shared offices, planes, hospitals and anywhere else a room-filling fragrance would be someone else's problem. They are also precise: a roll on each wrist and the sides of the neck, no cloud, no overspray on a collar.
The other argument for oil is ritual. Rolling a scent on is slower and more deliberate than a spray, and plenty of our customers keep the oil at a desk or in a bag and reapply through the day. Because the oil is alcohol-free, it does not flash cold on the skin or dry it the way repeated spraying can feel like it does.
The both answer
The formats are better together than the versus in the title suggests. Wear the oil under the spray of the same scent: the oil holds the base close to the skin while the spray carries the opening, and the whole composition hangs on longer than either format alone. Layer within the same scent or at least the same family. Two loud fragrances layered together mostly make noise, which is the polite version of what they make.
How to actually choose

Questions people ask
Is a perfume oil stronger than an eau de parfum?
No. The oil is quieter, not stronger. It projects less because there is no alcohol lifting the scent off your skin, and it can hold on longer for the same reason. Strength and loudness are different things.
Does a perfume oil last longer than a spray?
Often, on the skin it was applied to. The oil's carrier does not evaporate, so the scent is released slowly rather than all at once. How long either format lasts on you depends on your skin, the weather and the scent itself, which is why we do not promise hours.
Can I wear both at once?
Yes, and it is the best use of the pair. Roll the oil on first, spray the eau de parfum over it, and keep both to the same scent or family. The oil holds the scent close while the spray carries it.
Which format is better for a gift?
Neither, until you know the scent lands. A bottle in either format is a guess about someone else's skin; a bundle of 10mls lets them find their own answer. If you know their scent already, the eau de parfum is the more conventional gift and the oil the more personal one.
Why is the oil alcohol-free?
Because the carrier is an oil rather than an alcohol solution. That is what keeps the scent close to the skin, and it is also why the oils can ship to some places the sprays cannot: alcohol-based fragrance is a dangerous good for air freight.
