About us

Who we are

A small studio that would rather you owned one bottle you love

Next Fragrance blends in Adelaide, South Australia, and sells direct rather than across a department store counter. That is the whole reason a bottle costs what it does here: the budget goes into the oil rather than the shelf space and the middle.

Every scent is built twice, as a spray and as an oil, because one composition behaves differently thrown into the air and warmed on skin. What is in each one is published: the notes top to base, and the ingredient list, with every note explained in the ingredient glossary. Where we have not tested a number, we leave it out rather than round it up.

Why ours

Four things that make a difference on skin

  1. Two formats, one composition

Every fragrance exists as a spray and as an oil. You choose whether you want to be noticed across a room or only up close.

  2. The notes are on the page

Top, mid and base for every fragrance, and the ingredient list underneath it. Nothing is described as a mystery accord.

  3. Worn for a day before it ships

A blend only becomes a product once someone has worn it through a full day. Most trials do not survive that, and they are the ones you never see.

  4. Direct from the studio

No counter, no distributor, no consultant on commission. You are paying for the blend and the bottle it arrives in.

Three ways to wear it

Same composition, different behaviour. Pick the one that suits how you want to be noticed.

Eau de parfum

Sprays, carries and leaves a trail. An eau de parfum typically wears for most of a day on skin. Comes in 10ml, 50ml and 100ml.

Take this one if you want people to notice.

Perfume oil

Goes on the pulse points and is warmed by your own skin. It sits closer and can hold longer, but it will not project.

Take this one for the office, or for skin.

For the house

Room sprays and essential oils built from the same families, so a room can agree with what you are wearing.

Take this one as the low-risk gift.

Look anything up before you wear it

Every note we build with, described in plain words, with the fragrances that use it. Read the ones you are not sure about first: bergamot and oud are not the same kind of decision.

Make your own

Brief a blend in your own words

Describe what you want to smell like and the composer matches you to the studio's own formulas.

Every blend is one we have made and smelled ourselves. The composer selects from tested formulas; it never invents an untested combination.

Before you buy

Start with a 10ml. Really.

Fragrance changes on skin, and it changes with the season. A small bottle worn for a week tells you more than any description we could write, including ours.
