What it smells like.
Pink pepper is peppery without the heat of black pepper. It is dry, slightly rosy and faintly fruity, and what it mostly does is prickle. On skin it reads as sparkle at the top of a fragrance rather than as spice you could name.
Perfumers use it to stop a floral from feeling old-fashioned and to give a citrus opening something to hold on to. It is a supporting material by nature. If you want the blend to read as spicy, cinnamon or clove will do it; pink pepper will only hint.
Pink pepper is not actually pepper. The berries come from the Peruvian pepper tree, a different plant entirely, and the oil smells rosier and brighter than the black peppercorn it gets mistaken for. Perfumery adopted it in the 1990s and never gave it back.
