Bulgarian Rose.
Full, honeyed rose with a green stem underneath.
Our read on the material, not a measurement.
What it smells like.
Bulgarian rose is rose at full volume. It is deep and slightly honeyed, with a jammy richness and a green, stemmy freshness running through it, which is what stops it smelling like potpourri. Rose is one of the few materials that smells complete by itself.
In a blend it is the heart, not a supporting note. Pink pepper and blackcurrant sharpen it, patchouli grounds it, and oud turns it into something serious. What it will not do is share. Put it next to tuberose or jasmine at full strength and you get a bouquet where nothing is legible.
In a blend.
The most complete floral on the bench. Bulgarian rose can carry a whole heart on its own. It is also assertive: it will not sit quietly behind anything.
