What it smells like.
Pineapple is sweet, juicy and slightly acidic, with a sharpness that stops it reading as syrup. It smells more like the fruit cut open than the fruit in a drink. There is a faint woody note underneath it, which is why it sits better with cedarwood than most fruits do.
It is one of the boldest openings you can choose. It carries in warm weather, it makes a blend memorable in the first thirty seconds, and it pushes a formula towards fun rather than formal. That is also the reason to be careful with it: two loud fruits together tip into confectionery quickly.
In a blend.
Loud and cheerful. Pineapple makes an opening unmistakable and reads younger than most fruits. If you want a blend that could go to the office, pick something else.
