What it smells like.
Cherry in perfumery is not the fresh fruit. It is darker and more syrupy, with a bitter almond edge that comes from the stone rather than the flesh, and often a boozy quality like cherry liqueur. It reads as rich and slightly old-fashioned in a way that has come back into fashion.
It belongs over warm bases. With tonka, vanilla or rum it makes something rich and cold-weather; with coffee it turns dark. It is a dominant note, so one loud fruit is the limit. Cherry and pineapple in the same opening will simply argue.
In a blend.
Rich and a little retro. Cherry brings a boozy, almost liqueur quality that suits warm bases. It is loud, so give it room.
Fruity. Playful, bright and full of energy.
