What it smells like.

White amber is warmth without sweetness: soft, clean, faintly powdery and very close to the skin. It is lighter and less resinous than a traditional amber, which is what the white refers to, and it reads as freshly laundered rather than rich.

It is the note that makes a fragrance feel like it is coming from the person rather than the bottle. Under florals it adds a soft finish; under citrus it stops the blend vanishing after an hour. Do not expect presence from it. If you want people to notice the base, choose oud, coffee or leather instead.

White amber is a modern accord: the warmth of amber rebuilt with clean musks and soft woods until it glows rather than smoulders. Nothing is harvested to make it. It exists because perfumers wanted amber's comfort without its density, a base for compositions that need light.
