What it smells like.
Ylang-ylang is a heady tropical floral with a creamy, almost banana-like sweetness and a spicy, faintly rubbery edge. It is one of the more unusual white florals and it reads as warm rather than fresh.
It gives a floral heart richness and an exotic character, and it sits well under jasmine and over sandalwood. It is assertive and it can smell overripe if it is overdone.
