What it smells like.
Sea salt smells mineral and cool, with a saline edge and a suggestion of skin after swimming. It is clean without being soapy and it has no sweetness at all.
It gives a blend air and a modern, coastal quality, and it is very good over dry woods. It clashes with rich cream: salt against sweet dairy tends to curdle rather than contrast.
Seawater cannot be distilled into scent; salt itself has no smell. The note is an accord built from mineral and ambergris-like materials that recreate what a beach actually smells like: salt on warm skin, dry driftwood, air with distance in it. It is atmosphere engineering, and honestly among our favourite kinds.
